Thankfully Google has develop Android OS in such a way that if you’ve connected your Android device to your Gmail, your all contacts are most likely already synced with your gmail.
Step 1: To check this go to your Gmail account.
Step 2: In the uppr left corner under the Google logo press where it says Gmail.
Step 3: In the drop down that appears choose Contacts.
Step 4: Your contacts should appear.
If you saw your contact list from your device in that list you’re done. Google has already backed up your contacts.
If you failed to find your contacts there’re some things you need to do to be sure that they are backed up.

How to Back up your Android Phone contacts:-
Step No 1: Go to your phone settings ( if you do not have a shortcut on your home screen you can find it in your list of apps )
Step No 2: Scroll though this menu & click the tab that says Back up and reset.
Step No 3: Now what you’ve to do is be sure the Back up my data tab is checked, and if it isn’t, check it right now.
This should make sure that your all contacts are backed up automatically. As soon as you add a contact to your android smartphone it will get synced to your Gmail account.
If your smartphone is lost or you loose it in the toilet or any other actions that may lead to involuntarily buying a new smartphone you can now rest esured that your contact list is intact.
If for any purpose you’re switching devices it is a good idea to backup you contact data. I can clearly remember in the the past when one was forced to manually put in all ones contacts into your new device by writing everyone’s number & name into the contact list one by one.

Open the contact list on your Android device. Click the menu button from your contact list.From the list that shows up hit the import/export tab.
This can bring up a list of available export & importing options.
